Air TransportIndiGo has placed a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, converting a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2025. The agreement brings IndiGo’s total A350 order book to 60 units.
This latest order underscores IndiGo’s strategy to expand its international network as it seeks to establish a global presence by 2030.
“The conversion of this MoU into a firm order for 30 additional A350-900s is a testament to our confidence in the future of Indian aviation and our strategic partnership with Airbus,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo.
IndiGo’s move comes as the airline continues to build on its dominant position in the Indian domestic market. The widebody A350s are expected to support long-haul operations and diversify the carrier’s fleet beyond narrowbody types.

Globally, the A350 program has accumulated more than 1,400 orders from 63 customers as of September 2025. IndiGo’s commitment adds to Airbus’s backlog and reinforces the type’s role in international expansion strategies.
In April 2024, IndiGo announced its initial agreement for 30 A350-900s powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. The airline currently operates a fleet of over 400 A320 family aircraft and remains one of Airbus’s largest customers.
In 2023, IndiGo placed its largest single aircraft order by securing 500 A320neo family jets.
