DefenseAirbus delivered Indonesia’s first A400M military transport aircraft to the Ministry of Defense during a ceremony at Halim Air Base in Jakarta.
The delivery is part of a contract signed in 2021, which covers two aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force. The second A400M is scheduled to arrive in 2026.
Indonesia becomes the tenth country to operate the A400M, according to Karl-Heinz Grossman, Head of International at Airbus Defence and Space. “Today we welcome Indonesia as the tenth operator of the A400M,” said Grossman.
As part of the agreement, Airbus will provide comprehensive training and support services to Indonesian Air Force personnel.

The air force is also assessing the integration of a modular firefighting kit developed for the A400M. This system enables rapid conversion of the aircraft into an aerial water bomber capable of releasing up to 20,000 liters of retardant or water per sortie.
The delivered A400M is configured for cargo transport, troop movement, medical evacuation, and humanitarian missions. It has a maximum payload of 37 tonnes and can fly up to 2,400 nautical miles with a 30-tonne load.
Indonesia’s acquisition of the A400M aligns with ongoing efforts to modernize airlift capabilities and expand mission versatility.
