ITA Airways plans to operate its final scheduled Airbus A330-200 flight on December 31, departing Rome Fiumicino for Boston, according to Aeroroutes.

The carrier will operate its final Rome Fiumicino–Delhi service with the A330-200 on December 29, and its last Rome Fiumicino–New York JFK route on December 30.

ITA Airways' fleet today consists of 12 Airbus A330-900s and six A350-900s. In 2025, the Lufthansa Group acquired a stake in the Italian airline and is implementing management changes.

All three remaining A330-200s will be returned to lessors and subsequently transferred to Azul Linhas Aéreas in 2026, according to reports.

Azul will use the incoming widebodies to replace its own A330-900s, which are set to be returned to lessor Avolon, according to reports. Meanwhile, five A330neo aircraft currently operated by Azul could be taken over by rival GOL Linhas Aéreas.
