JSX, the Dallas-based public charter jet service, has received its 50th aircraft, an Embraer ERJ 145 featuring a special retro livery. The jet, registered as N960JX, was previously operated by ExpressJet and now serves as a commemorative addition to the company’s expanding fleet.

The retro paint scheme on the ERJ 145 pays homage to what is often referred to as the golden age of aviation. According to the company, the design is intended to recall earlier eras of commercial flight.

JSX’s current fleet is predominantly composed of Embraer regional jets, specifically the ERJ 135 and ERJ 145 models. The ERJ 145, a jet with capacity for up to 50 passengers in standard configuration, has been a mainstay for regional and charter operators due to its range and operational efficiency.

JSX will operate ATR turboprops (ATR)

However, JSX plans to diversify its fleet by introducing ATR 42-600 turboprops starting in 2025. Two ATR 42-600 aircraft have already been secured on lease, and the company has signed a letter of intent for additional units. The ATR 42-600 is a twin-engine turboprop typically seating around 48 passengers and is suited for short-haul regional routes.

Since launching operations in 2016 under the JetSuiteX brand, JSX has positioned itself in the niche ‘hop-on’ public charter jet service, offering scheduled flights with the flexibility of private aviation. The addition of the 50th aircraft underscores the carrier’s growth trajectory and its intention to expand services with new aircraft types.

The planned introduction of ATR turboprops marks a shift for JSX, which has so far relied exclusively on regional jets. This move could allow the company to serve airports with shorter runways and open new route opportunities, potentially influencing competition in the regional charter market.
