KLM Cityhopper began operating its first reconfigured Embraer 195-E2 with increased seat capacity on December 6, deploying the aircraft on its Porto route.

The cabin update raises the seating from 132 to 136, aiming to boost passenger capacity and revenue while reducing CO₂ emissions per passenger by 3% compared to the previous layout.

All 22 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft in the Cityhopper fleet are scheduled for similar conversion by June 2026, with one aircraft modified every five business days.

The reconfiguration is achieved by reducing the galley size and optimizing onboard inventory, which is expected to lower annual catering weight by 5 million kilograms and save up to 160,000 kilograms of aviation fuel each year.

KLM Cityhopper staff contributed to the improvement process to ensure the revised cabin layout remains practical for crew operations, with no changes to passenger comfort or catering offerings.
