LATAM Airlines Peru has suspended plans to launch its Lima–Orlando service, originally set to begin on October 26, citing the financial impact of a new Unified Airport Usage Fee (TUUA) that will apply to transfer passengers at Jorge Chávez International Airport starting October 27.

The airline said the additional fee would undermine Lima’s competitiveness as a regional hub compared with airports in Bogotá and Panama City. About half of the passengers booked on the Lima–Orlando route were expected to be international connections, according to LATAM.

The suspension will remain in place through November 30. Affected travelers will be offered rebooking on alternate routes, including connections through other LATAM hubs or flights to Miami. Customers who decline the alternatives will be eligible for a full refund.

LATAM noted that other international services – such as its Lima–Havana route – have also been affected by the same regulatory change. The carrier reiterated its commitment to maintaining Peru’s international connectivity but described the current fee structure as unfavorable for launching new routes.

The airline has not confirmed whether the Lima–Orlando service will be reinstated once the new airport charge is reviewed or modified.
