The first of three E195-E2 jets from LOT Polish Airlines took off from Embraer’s facilities in Brazil on July 30.

The aircraft registered SP-LEA had made a technical stopover in Recife before continuing to Gran Canaria, on its transfer journey to its final destination in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

In May, LOT had reached an agreement to lease the three 136-seat aircraft from Azorra. The aircraft were originally destined for Malaysian SKS Airways.

In a statement on its social media, the Polish flag carrier confirmed that the E195-E2 will debut from Warsaw Chopin Airport starting August 11.

The delivery of an E2 jet to LOT Polish Airlines is emblematic, as the airline was the launch customer for the E-Jet family exactly 20 years ago.

In 2004, LOT took delivery of the first E170 and has always had Embraer aircraft in its fleet ever since.

“Today, LOT Polish Airlines is one of the largest Embraer operators in Europe, so we will be delighted to welcome new state-of-the-art aircraft and invite our passengers to travel together,” said Michał Fijoł, CEO of the airline, to the country’s media.

The other two E195-E2s are scheduled for delivery in August and September.
