Air TransportLufthansa City Airlines is set to begin scheduled flights from Frankfurt in the first quarter of 2026, marking a shift from its current operations focused solely on Munich. The move, reported by AeroRoutes, will introduce several new routes from Germany’s main international hub as the company accelerates its expansion plans.
Among the new connections, the airline plans to operate two daily flights between Frankfurt and Berlin starting on February 10, 2026. Additional routes from Frankfurt to Düsseldorf and Málaga are scheduled to launch on March 1, 2026, with seven weekly flights each.
The carrier will also introduce service to Manchester with six weekly frequencies from February 9, and a weekly flight to Valencia beginning February 19. The new flights will be operated by Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Lufthansa City Airlines received its first new A320neo, registered as D-AIJP and named ‘Ingelheim am Rhein’, on April 8 at the Airbus facility in Hamburg. The aircraft is configured with 180 seats and features the Airspace cabin, which offers increased overhead storage and a modern lighting system.

As of September 2025, Lufthansa City Airlines’ fleet comprise four A319s and eight A320neos. The company has also ordered 40 Airbus A220-300s to further expand its network and capacity in the coming years. The first aircraft is scheduled to arrive in 2026.
The airline, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Group, completed its inaugural flight on June 26, 2024.
