Lufthansa has introduced a Boeing 747-8 in a special blue “100 Years” anniversary livery, expanding its commemorative fleet to six aircraft.

The aircraft, registered D-ABYN and named “Niedersachsen,” received the new paint scheme in San Bernardino, California.

Operating as flight LH9913, the 747-8 is scheduled to arrive at its Frankfurt hub on March 5 at approximately 11 a.m. local time.

The aircraft will enter scheduled commercial service on March 6, operating a flight from Frankfurt to Los Angeles.

The Boeing 747-8 is the sixth aircraft to carry Lufthansa’s centennial design, which features an enlarged crane logo on a blue background. In recent days, an Airbus A380 and an Airbus A320neo in the same livery arrived in Munich.

An Airbus A350, a Boeing 787-9 and another Airbus A320neo are already flying in the anniversary colors.

Lufthansa said an Airbus A350-1000 will also receive the special livery in autumn 2026, bringing the total number of aircraft in the commemorative fleet to seven.
