Air TransportLuxair has taken delivery of its first E195-E2 in Luxembourg on Saturday, becoming the latest European carrier to reintroduce Embraer jets to its fleet.
The arrival initiates Luxair’s transition from De Havilland Q400 turboprops to a new generation of regional jets. The E195-E2, registered as LX-LEA, will enter commercial service in April 2026 on daily flights to Alicante, Spain.
The E195-E2 offers efficiency gains, using 29% less fuel and generating up to 35% less noise compared to the Q400. The aircraft seats 136 passengers in a 2-2 configuration and has a range of 4,815 km.

Luxair has committed to six E195-E2 jets with purchase rights for an additional three. The new aircraft arrived via a ferry flight from São José dos Campos, Brazil, with stops in Recife and Gran Canaria.
“The arrival of this first Embraer E195-E2 is a decisive step for the future of Luxair, strengthening our competitiveness, reducing our environmental impact, and improving the travel experience for our passengers,” said Gilles Feith, Luxair CEO.

“Developing responsible, innovative, and future-oriented air transport means protecting our planet, enhancing quality of life, and offering a unique travel experience,” said Yuriko Backes, Minister of Mobility.
The arrival of the E195-E2 marks Luxair’s return to Embraer aircraft. The airline previously operated EMB-120 Brasilia turboprops in the 1990s and also 50-seat ERJ-145 jets until 2016.
