Air TransportOne of the next E195-E2 operators will still have to wait a few months to receive its first jet, but has already defined some routes where the Embraer aircraft will be deployed.
Luxair, the national airline of the small European country, ordered six of these planes, four in 2023 and two last year.
According to Routes Online, Luxair plans to debut the E195-E2 on April 1st to Alicante, Spain, with two flights, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon.
Three other destinations were also revealed: Helsinki, Edinburgh, and Tunis, which will begin between July 2nd and 4th.
Some routes are being revived thanks to the new aircraft, such as Alicante, where Luxair last flew in October 2018.
The Grand Duchy’s airline will configure its E195-E2s with 136 seats, making the aircraft a mid-range option between the Dash 8-Q400 turboprops and the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

“Starting in 2026, these aircraft will mark the beginning of a new era for Luxair, bringing quieter operations, superior fuel efficiency, and unmatched passenger comfort to our customers,” said Gilles Feith, CEO of Luxair, recently.
The six aircraft are expected to be delivered by mid-2027 and represent the return of Embraer aircraft to its fleet after almost ten years.
Luxair has operated EMB 120, ERJ 135 and ERJ 145 models in the past and in 2023 contracted German Airways through a wet-lease to operate flights with two E190s.
