Air TransportMexicana de Aviación could take delivery of its first new aircraft in the coming days.
Several indications point to the state-owned carrier being about to receive one of the 20 E2 jets purchased from Embraer about a year ago.
An E195-E2 with test registration PR-ENL was spotted taxiing at the manufacturer’s facilities in Brazil this month, but there were no records of it having flown.
El Financeiro revealed this week that an insurance contract was signed by the Mexican government for US$1.1 million for five E2 aircraft.

The document states that the first regional jet will be delivered on June 26, two more planes in August, one in November and the last in December.
Mexicana de Aviación itself has been publishing teases about the arrival of the first aircraft at any time, but without revealing a date.

In June 2024, the government signed an agreement with Embraer for 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s (132 seats), which should allow the airline to expand its currently limited routes and frequencies.
Created to be an alternative for cheaper air travel, the state-owned airline has been posting losses. In the first quarter of 2025, the result was negative by US$9.5 million.
