The state-owned airline Mexicana took delivery of the second E195-E2 on August 9th. The Embraer-manufactured aircraft took off from its facilities in Brazil on Friday and, after a technical stopover in Manaus, landed in Mexico City the following day.

Like the first E195-E2, the jet, registration XA-MXB, is configured with 132 seats in a single-class layout and is expected to enter service in the coming weeks.

Mexicana has acquired 20 aircraft from the E2 family, including 10 E195-E2s and 10 E190-E2s, which have a smaller capacity. According to the carrier, three more aircraft will be delivered between September and December.

With these, the company will be able to return all three Boeing 737 NGs loaned by the country’s air force.

The E195-E2 debuted on Mexicana’s revenue flights on July 6th, on the Mexico City-Acapulco route. Since then, it has operated from the Mexican capital to various destinations.

Cities served include San Luis Potosi, Zihuatanejo, Silao, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Tulum, Campeche, and Chetumal.

Mexicana was relaunched by the country’s government to offer cheaper flights than private airlines like Aeromexico and serve less attractive destinations.
