New Gulfstream G400 business jet completes maiden flight
Gulfstream’s new business jet, the G400, completed its maiden flight on August 15, the company revealed.
The test aircraft took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:04 a.m. and was in the air for 2 hours and 54 minutes.
On its first flight, the G400 reached a speed of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters) using a blend that included sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The G400 was revealed by Gulfstream in 2021 as an aircraft between the G280 and G500.
The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines and advanced wings and winglets introduced on the G500 and G600.
In addition to a cruise speed of Mach 0.85, the 12-seat business jet can fly up to 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 km).
The program has been delayed and is expected to enter service in 2025. Two test jets are expected to be used in the FAA type certification program.
