Founded by former Norwegian Air partners, Norse Atlantic Airways began selling air tickets between London (Gatwick) and New York (JFK), starting from £255.

The transatlantic route will be the first from the UK and will debut on August 12 with daily flights operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner - further destinations to be announced soon.

The flight will depart the British capital at 1:00 pm and land in NY at 3:55 pm. Return will occur at 5:55 pm, arriving in London at 6:20 am the following day (all local times).

Norse Atlantic also confirmed that it will run temporary flights during the summer connecting Gatwick Airport to Oslo, where the airline offers frequencies to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Los Angeles, whose flights will start between June and August.

“We are delighted to now be able to welcome customers who wish to book great value flights between London Gatwick and New York JFK. Customers now have an affordable option that allows them to book a last-minute trip or the vacation of a lifetime with an airline that offers choice and flexibility,” said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways.

Norwegian Air will return its Boeing 787 to lessors (NA)

Norse follows a similar strategy to Norwegian Air, which operated Dreamliner jets to several long-haul destinations, offering lower fares. But the business model began to crumble due to the low profit margin and later succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Norwegian Air ended up returning its entire fleet of Boeing 787s and currently concentrates its air network in Europe, with 737-800NG aircraft.
