The Paraguayan Air Force is set to receive the first two of six A-29 Super Tucanos ordered from Embraer in 2024.
An image from a hangar at the manufacturer in Gaviao Peixoto was shared on social media showing the light attack and advanced training aircraft almost ready.
One of them displays a provisional registration PT-ZBX used for test flights. The two Super Tucanos sport a camouflage paint job similar to the AT-27 Tucanos received in the 1980s.

According to reports, Embraer is expected to deliver the two turboprops to Paraguay in May. They are expected to receive registration numbers FAP 1101 to FAP 1106 and will be operated by the Tactical Air Group of Brigade Number 1, based at the Ñu Guasú Air Base in Luque.
The Paraguayan Air Force ordered the six A-29s in 2024 after a relatively quick process and received financing from Brazil’s development bank.
Embraer already had some Super Tucanos manufactured and ready for delivery in recent years, which certainly contributed to their dispatch in May.
In addition to Paraguay, Uruguay acquired another 12 A-29s, while an undisclosed African country closed a deal for six aircraft. The Portuguese Air Force, in turn, ordered 12 A-29Ns, a variant with NATO equipment.
