The US Department of Defense has awarded an $8.6 billion contract to Boeing for the design, production, and delivery of 25 F-15IA fighter aircraft to Israel, with an option for an additional 25 units.

The contract was announced in St. Louis, Missouri, where the work will be carried out and is scheduled for completion.

The agreement was revealed shortly after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida.

The contract is funded under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, with $840 million obligated at the time of award. Deliveries are planned to support ongoing modernization efforts within the Israeli Air Force, which aims to enhance its tactical aircraft capabilities.

The United States has long been Israel’s principal supplier of military aircraft and systems. The FMS framework has enabled Israel to acquire advanced US fighter types for decades, including F-15 and F-16 variants.

The F-15IA is a derivative of the F-15EX, tailored to Israeli operational requirements. Israel’s current fleet includes legacy F-15s and F-16s, and the new order forms a key part of its strategy to maintain a qualitative edge in the region.

Market data shows Israel remains among the largest recipients of US military aviation exports.
