Air TransportPorter Airlines has launched pilot training for the Embraer E195-E2 at CAE’s training centre in Montreal using a brand-new, Canadian-built full-flight simulator.
Developed by Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS), a joint venture between Embraer and CAE, the 7000XR Series FFS features the advanced CAE Prodigy visual system for enhanced simulation realism.
Training began in May 2025 and includes both initial and recurrent courses for E2 pilots. The initiative supports Porter’s rapid fleet expansion—currently at 46 E195-E2s, with up to 100 planned—and increases training capacity closer to home for Canadian crews.

The simulator uses CAE Prodigy’s image generator powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, enabling photorealistic visuals and detailed motion modeling for a more immersive experience.
“This partnership with ECTS brings together three aviation leaders. CAE’s training and simulation expertise ensures our pilots meet the highest safety and quality standards when operating the E195-E2,” said Kent Woodside, Executive VP and COO of Porter Airlines.
Beyond Montreal, ECTS also operates E2 full-flight simulators in Singapore and Madrid, and provides Phenom jet training at CAE centres in the U.S., Europe, and Brazil.
