Recaro Aircraft Seating has unveiled the seating solution for the eVTOL being developed by Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer.

The configuration will be presented at the 2025 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, between April 8 and 10.

According to the company, the seats of the electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft will be made using lightweight materials, such as high-grade aluminum, titanium, and composite materials.

The model has five seats in a 1-2-2 row arrangement. The eVTOL uses eight vertical rotors in addition to a pusher propeller for horizontal displacement.

“Eve Air Mobility and Recaro combined their expertise to develop lightweight, ergonomic seating that can support the distinct needs of eVTOL flights. The urban air mobility industry introduces a new range of engineering challenges, including seating,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve.

“The success of a project like this is only possible when there is a strong collaboration, just as there is between RECARO and Eve Air Mobility,” added Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Holding.

Entry into service in 2027

Embraer’s eVTOL has been developed cautiously by its subsidiary, focusing mainly on creating an ecosystem capable of enabling its operation.

The first (unmanned) prototype was only revealed in 2024 and is expected to fly for the first time this year.

Embraer expects to complete four more aircraft in 2025 and then take 18 months to obtain type certification.

By the end of last year, there were 2,900 letters of intent for the model, which is expected to enter service in 2027.
