A Rossiya Airlines Superjet 100 operating flight FV6305 from St. Petersburg overran the runway at Arkhangelsk Airport during landing on January 9 at 12:38 Moscow time.

The incident occurred during the aircraft’s deceleration phase in winter conditions, with three millimeters of wet snow on the runway.

All passengers disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft was subsequently towed to a parking position, allowing airport operations to proceed without interruption.

Superjet 100 RA-89146 entered service with Rossiya Airlines in September 2021 after production earlier that year.

The Superjet 100 is one of the main aircraft of Rossiya Airlines, with 75 jets in service operating regional routes throughout Russia.

Developed in Russia in the 2000s, the regional jet entered commercial service in 2011, powered by SaM146 turbofan engines. Its seating capacity ranges from 85 to 100 seats.

Since its introduction, the Superjet 100 has faced a mixed operational record. While it was promoted as a modern, cost-efficient regional aircraft, operators have reported issues related to maintenance, spare parts availability, and dispatch reliability.

Several accidents and incidents over the years have kept the model under scrutiny from aviation authorities and industry analysts.
