Royal Air Maroc has reached an agreement with lessor Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) to lease 13 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, further expanding its narrowbody fleet. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2027, DAE said on January 29.

The agreement builds on an earlier deal under which DAE leased two 737 MAX 8s to the Moroccan flag carrier, both of which were delivered in 2025. With the new lease commitment, Royal Air Maroc will substantially increase its reliance on the MAX family for short- and medium-haul operations.

“The Boeing 737-8 will enhance our flexibility to serve growing demand while delivering reliable connectivity between Africa, Europe, and beyond, “said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc

Royal Air Maroc currently operates 13 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, although only two were purchased directly from Boeing.

DAE said the aircraft will support Royal Air Maroc’s network expansion plans, particularly as Morocco continues to see growth in tourism and international connectivity. The lessor currently owns, manages, or has commitments for roughly 750 aircraft across Airbus, Boeing, and ATR programs, including 237 Boeing aircraft.

Besides de 737 MAX, Royal Air Maroc has long been associated with a potential order for the Airbus A220, which would introduce a new aircraft type into its fleet and offer an alternative in the lower-capacity narrowbody segment. However, no agreement with Airbus has been announced to date, and the carrier has continued to expand its Boeing 737 MAX operation instead.
