On November 24, a Russian Sukhoi SSJ-100 jet belonging to Azimuth Airlines caught fire near the left engine after landing at Antalya Airport in Turkey.

According to reports, the aircraft made a hard landing, causing the main landing gear to partially collapse and causing a fuel leak.

The crew managed to stop the SSJ-100 and evacuate all 79 people to safety as the fire spread to the left side of the aircraft.

The jet, registration RA-89085, had returned to service four days earlier after an incident on October 16 that damaged the landing gear doors.

Main landing gear damaged

The aircraft was on flight AZ06015 between Mineralnye Vody and Ivanovo when a low fluid level warning was issued in the hydraulic system during cruise.

The captain decided to make an emergency landing at Vnukovo, but upon touching down on the runway the landing gear doors touched the ground because there was not enough pressure to close them.

Azimuth Airlines operates a fleet of 200 SSJ-100s, a regional jet with a capacity of 100 passengers and originally designed with Western components.
