Air TransportRyanair expects to take delivery of its first 15 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft in the spring of 2027, as it prepares for a significant fleet expansion across its European network.
The airline is launching a new pilot recruitment drive to support the introduction of the MAX 10, aligning with Boeing’s latest timeline for certification of the type, expected by mid-2026.
“As part of our preparations for the MAX-10s, we need to accelerate cadet and first officer (“FO”) recruitment for the next 3 years. While this investment in training and growth will increase FO crewing ratios for up to 3 years, it will provide a strong pool of home-grown FOs ready for promotion to Captains when MAX-10 deliveries ramp-up in FY29/FY30,” said Michael O’Leary, Ryanair CEO.

Ryanair has placed an order for up to 300 Boeing 737 MAX 10s, with deliveries scheduled to commence in early 2027. The carrier is planning for these aircraft to underpin the next phase of its network and capacity growth.
The group has already received 204 Boeing 737-8200 ‘Gamechanger’ aircraft, with all units due to be delivered by the end of October 2025. These deliveries have contributed to Ryanair’s ongoing fleet renewal and standardization strategy.
Ryanair plans to invest approximately €25 million annually in pilot training to ensure operational readiness for its expanding fleet. The airline projects a 4% increase in passenger traffic, aiming to carry 215 million passengers by 2026.
