Saab reiterated transparency in a statement that the contract signed to supply 17 Gripen fighters to Colombia, following questions about the agreement. The package includes 15 Gripen E aircraft and 2 Gripen F, as well as advanced sensors, radars, and complementary equipment.

According to the Swedish manufacturer, the selection and negotiation process followed ethical standards and took into account the specific needs of Colombian air defense.

The contract also provides for a financial scheme that shields the Colombian government from inflationary fluctuations and defers payments.

Saab emphasized that each commercial proposal is tailored to the requirements and characteristics of each country, making direct value comparisons between international contracts impossible.

The company stated that it maintains zero tolerance for corruption and strictly follows OECD guidelines in its operations.

“This was a completely transparent and ethical process,” Saab said in a statement. “Saab, our core values of trust, motivation, and experience guide every decision we make.”

The industrial cooperation package associated with the contract provides for the installation of a solar panel factory, improvements in the health sector, and the provision of drinking water in La Guajira.

The initiative also includes technology transfer in aerospace and cybersecurity areas for the Colombian Air Force.

The agreement was signed after years of uncertainties as the old Israeli IAI Kfir fighters became obsolete.
