Safran inaugurated new maintenance facilities for LEAP engines in Casablanca, Morocco, in a ceremony attended by King Mohammed VI and the company’s senior management. The MRO unit, set to begin operations in 2027, will have an annual capacity of 150 engines.

The group also announced the establishment of an assembly line for LEAP-1A engines, intended for Airbus aircraft and designed to produce up to 350 engines per year starting in late 2027. The industrial complex will also include a new test bench dedicated to LEAP engines.

The total investment in these two initiatives amounts to 320 million euros, with a forecast of creating 900 direct jobs by 2030. Safran also communicated a commitment to access renewable energy for all its facilities in Morocco starting in 2026.

Morocco has been consolidating its position as an aerospace industrial hub, attracting global manufacturers seeking skilled labor and proximity to strategic markets. Safran’s presence in the country dates back over two decades, with units dedicated to the production and maintenance of aviation components.

In addition to the new projects, Safran is expanding three existing facilities in the country, with operations expected to start between 2026 and 2027. The total investment by the French group in new and expanding projects in Morocco exceeds 350 million euros.

The company expects to recruit over 2,000 professionals in the next five years, expanding its local workforce to support the growth of its activities.

These initiatives reinforce Morocco’s integration into the global aerospace supply chain and align with the increasing demand for LEAP engines in commercial fleets.
