SAS expands fleet of Embraer 195 jets

Regional arm SAS Link already has ten aircraft, two of which are being prepared for delivery

Amid a recovery administration process in the US, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is expanding its fleet of Embraer E195 regional jets.

According to data from Planespotters and FlightRadar24, the carrier already has ten aircraft associated with it, all provided through leasing.

Two jets, however, are still in the process of being prepared for delivery by Azorra Aviation. They are E195 with registration SE-RSS (MSN 19000437) and SE-RST (19000452).

The SE-RSP aircraft, delivered in March, also appears as the last destination in Exeter, UK, when it flew from Copenhagen on August 7th. The airport is used by Azorra to carry out services for its fleet.

SAS Forward

SAS received its first E195 in April 2022, as part of a restructuring program called "SAS Forward", in which it is seeking to reduce its costs.

As part of the plan, the carrier decided to separate services into subsidiaries such as SAS Link, to which the E195s are allocated.

With the arrival of the Embraer jets, SAS removed more Boeing 737-700s from its fleet, a process that had already begun before the entry into US bankruptcy protection, known as "Chapter 11".

SAS E195s have operated with companies such as Air Europa and FlyBe and have been in service on average for just over 14 years.
