U.S. President Donald Trump’s tour of the Middle East has yielded a new deal to sell 737 MAX jets to Boeing.
On Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s lessor AviLease announced an order for up to 30 narrowbody jets.
It is the company’s first direct order with Boeing and includes 20 firm orders for the 737-8 and 10 purchase options. Deliveries are expected to occur through 2032.
“We are pleased to conclude our first direct OEM order, complementing our growth strategy toward the top of the industry. These new aircraft will accelerate our growth and enable us to deliver the industry’s latest generation, fuel-efficient fleet solutions,” said Edward O’Byrne, CEO of AviLease.
“With this order, we are strengthening our relationship with a key Saudi Arabian commercial aviation partner and expanding the global presence of the 737 MAX,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing.

In addition to the announcement, Boeing also revealed a new order for eight 737 MAXs from an unidentified customer. The information came after an update to its website.
So far this year, Boeing says it has received 249 gross orders, but 261 net orders through April.
