Silk Way West Airlines has doubled its order for Airbus A350F freighters, bringing its total commitment to four aircraft in a recently finalized agreement announced at the Dubai Airshow.

The cargo airline had placed its first order for the A350F in June 2022. The Airbus A350F is designed to fully meet ICAO’s new CO₂ emissions standards set to take effect in 2027.

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with Airbus on the A350F program,” said Wolfgang Meier, President of Silk Way West Airlines.

With a payload capacity of up to 111 tonnes and a range of 4,700 nautical miles (8,700 kilometers), the A350F is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, which Airbus claims deliver up to 40% lower fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to previous-generation models.

As of the end of October, Airbus had secured 74 orders for the A350F from 12 customers. Silk Way West Airlines also placed an order for two Boeing 777-8F freighters in 2022.

Silk Way's current fleet comprises five Boeing 747-400F, five 747-8F, and three 777F aircraft.
