Australian carrier Skytrans has officially rebranded as SmartLynx Australia, marking its full integration into Avia Solutions Group, one of the world’s largest provider of ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services. The move represents a strategic pivot toward regional fleet growth and a new emphasis on ACMI operations in the Asia-Pacific region.

The airline recently added Dash 8-200 turboprops and Airbus A319 jets to its fleet, expanding its capability to operate a mix of regular public transport and on-demand services. Now operating 13 aircraft, SmartLynx Australia plans further growth through 2025 to boost its operational flexibility and market reach.

“This new brand marks a new stage for our business—blending the trusted Skytrans legacy with the ACMI excellence Avia Solutions Group has perfected,” said Gytis Gumuliauskas, CEO of SmartLynx Australia.

Skytrans has been rebranded as SmartLynx Australia (SmartLynx)

The rebranding brings the airline in line with sister companies SmartLynx Airlines (EU) and Thai SmartLynx, offering a unified brand identity across the group’s global operations. Avia Solutions Group operates 209 aircraft across six continents, supported by over 14,000 aviation professionals and 250 subsidiaries.

While SmartLynx Australia will continue providing scheduled domestic flights and charters, its core strategic goal is to expand its ACMI offering, delivering flexible aircraft solutions to other carriers in a region marked by seasonal shifts and fast-changing capacity demands.

“Our fleet size fluctuates based on demand, but our long-term vision includes scaling operations, growing the team, and expanding into new markets,” Gumuliauskas added.
