TechnologyU.S. startup Spike Aerospace has announced further progress in the development of the S-512 Diplomat, a supersonic business jet designed to combine speed, comfort, and fuel efficiency without the disruptive sonic boom.
Engineered for both overland and overwater operations with minimal noise, the aircraft aims to unlock new routes and sharply cut travel times. According to the manufacturer, it could connect New York and Paris in under four hours. The target speed is Mach 1.6 (1,110 mph), carrying 12 to 18 passengers.
The current phase focuses on refining the S-512’s aerodynamics, cabin layout, and low-boom capabilities to meet strict noise regulations for supersonic flights over populated areas.

In parallel with technical work, Spike Aerospace is refreshing its brand identity and updating its website to better showcase the program’s progress and vision. The project is supported by experienced engineers from major aerospace companies, strategic partners, and academic institutions, with the goal of speeding up certification and market entry.
Positioned for the high-performance business aviation segment, the S-512 Diplomat is intended to deliver faster, quieter, and more sustainable travel for business leaders and government officials alike.
The program, however, was launched over 10 years ago and has undergone several changes and delays in its forecasts. Currently, the company does not cite an expected entry-into-service date.
