Spring Airlines, China’s largest low-cost carrier, announced acquisition of 30 Airbus A320neo aircraft, with deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2032.

The deal, valued at $4.1 billion at list prices, is subject to customary government approvals. Spring Airlines stated, “This transaction aligns with the company’s development plan and market demand, and is conducive to optimising the company’s fleet structure.”

The announcement coincided with Juneyao Airlines’ disclosure of plans to purchase 25 A320neo aircraft, as both carriers reinforce their narrowbody operations.

Both airlines currently operate fleets centered on Airbus narrowbody aircraft. The new orders are expected to include A320neo variants, which provide improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to earlier models.

Large commercial aircraft transactions in China typically require regulatory approval before completion.

Spring Airlines has previously pursued incremental fleet growth through direct orders and leasing, focusing on single-aisle types.

The A320neo program remains a core component of fleet modernization strategies for Chinese carriers seeking to balance operational efficiency with expanding domestic and regional networks.
