Air TransportIndian regional airline Star Air took delivery of its sixth Embraer E175 jet on August 13th.
The new 88-seat aircraft is part of a leasing agreement signed with Azorra that also included another E175 delivered in April.
The E175, registration VT-GSM, departed Cairo on August 11th and, after a stopover in Muscat, landed in Bengaluru, where Star Air is headquartered, on Wednesday.
Azorra celebrated the achievement as all six E175s are now supplied by the leasing company, which inherited the first four jets when it acquired the Dubai Aerospace Enterprise portfolio. The contracts for these aircraft were also renewed.
Earlier this year, we were pleased to welcome Star Air as a new Azorra airline partner, with the delivery and lease of our first Embraer E175 beginning in April 2025. Now, we are delighted to announce a significant expansion of this relationship with our delivery of a second Azorra E175,” said John Evans, CEO of Azorra.

“As we enter our next phase of growth, these first two aircraft out of lease agreements for four additional E175s will allow us to scale operations and increase network connectivity, while enhancing passenger comfort and optimizing cost-efficiency,” added Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air.
The regional carrier is expected to receive two more E175s in 2025 to expand its presence in India’s growing air travel market.
Star Air also has four 50-seat ERJ 145s, but two of the aircraft have been grounded for some time.
