Taiwan’s STARLUX Airlines has signed a firm order with Airbus for 10 additional A350-1000 aircraft, increasing its total order for the type to 18 widebodies.

The agreement was announced at the Paris Air Show by STARLUX CEO Glenn Chai and Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.

STARLUX currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of 28 aircraft, including the A350-900, A330neo, and A321neo, and has 30 more on order, among them A350F freighters and A350-1000s.

“Expanding our international fleet with additional A350-1000s is a significant step toward reinforcing our global presence,” said Glenn Chai.

Airbus highlighted the A350-1000’s status as a benchmark for long-haul operations, offering up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km) of range with 25% lower fuel consumption than previous-generation aircraft.

The model is already certified to fly with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a goal of full SAF capability by 2030, according to Airbus.

With this new order, the A350 Family surpasses 1,390 orders from 60 customers, with over 650 aircraft currently in service across 38 airlines.
