SWISS Airlines operated the inaugural passenger flight of its new Airbus A350 on Saturday. The aircraft entered service on Zurich-Palma de Mallorca route.

Initial deployment focuses on short-haul European services, including destinations such as Prague, Hanover, Düsseldorf, and Málaga. These flights are being used to facilitate crew training and streamline operational procedures.

SWISS accepted delivery of the A350 Lausanne on October 9. The aircraft features the carrier’s updated ‘SWISS Senses’ cabin and a special ‘Wanderlust’ livery.

The arrival of the A350 is part of SWISS’ wider fleet modernization plan. The airline intends to introduce ten A350-900s by 2031, replacing its existing Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

The first scheduled long-haul passenger flight for the A350 Lausanne is planned for Boston on November 20.
