The French startup Beyond Aero, based in Toulouse, is developing a new business jet that promises to revolutionize the executive aviation market by being fueled by hydrogen.

Beyond Aero unveiled its concept of a plane powered by green hydrogen two years ago, but has already made significant progress on the project, which consists of a jet with attractive lines that uses fuel cells.

In reality, the Beyond Aero aircraft, called One, is a jet equipped with two electric turbofans, which uses the energy produced by the cells, which combine oxygen with hydrogen in an electrochemical reaction.

With a range of 800 nautical miles or 1,500 km, the Beyond Aero jet could fly nonstop in Europe, from Nice to London, in the United Kingdom, carrying six passengers.

According to Beyond Aero, the new One jet will have operating costs reduced by up to 55%, setting new standards for cost efficiency in business aviation.

New standards for cost and emissions efficiency

Thus, hydrogen is considered “65% cheaper than SAFs PtL by 2025 and 17% cheaper than Jet A-1 by 2030”, according to the company itself.

The Beyond Aero aircraft will have “90% fewer moving parts, reducing maintenance costs”, thus ensuring simplified overhauls and minimizing downtime.

Beyond Aero projects a business aviation market with major airports already offering support for gaseous hydrogen refueling.

The company’s focus for the One is on the corporate fleet, fractional ownership and charter services segments, with elliptical windows almost 30% larger than the market, noise isolation and high-speed Wi-Fi from Starlink, among others.

The Beyond Aero One eliminates all direct CO₂ emissions in flight using hydrogen fuel cell technology.

Designed to use 100% green hydrogen, it ensures operators are leading the transition to a cleaner business aviation market.

The One is built to CS-23 Tier 3 and FAR23 standards, exceeding safety standards with redundant powertrain, optimized 700 bar hydrogen storage and enhanced structural protection.

The One corporate jet is expected to enter service by 2030, the company says.
