Three new countries emerge as customers for the Embraer C-390
Embraer’s C-390 Millennium airlifter may have been chosen by three more countries, according to an image from a meeting with users of the aircraft that was shared on social media.
The video capture shows a screen from a presentation at the C-390 Millennium 2024 User Group Conference, which took place recently at Embraer's headquarters in Brazil.
The presentation features the flags of current and future known operators, as well as Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Chile.
None of the three nations have made any announcements in this regard yet, but talks have been ongoing for some time, as well as with other potential customers.
Rumors of visits
Morocco, for example, operates a fleet of 15 K/C-130H Hercules and has reportedly visited OGMA, Embraer’s subsidiary in Portugal, recently, according to local media reports. In March, a C-390 was presented to the African country’s military.
It is understood that the country’s air force could acquire three C-390s, but could also consider purchasing the rival C-130J for special missions.
Chile has always flirted with a partnership to supply components to Embraer, but a deal for six C-390s never materialized. The Air Force currently has three KC-130s and five C-130B/Hs.
The United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, has eight Hercules in both military and civilian versions and has occasionally emerged as a potential customer.
It is worth noting that in previous C-390 user conferences, Austria participated as a guest even though it had not yet confirmed an order at the time.
