Air TransportTrueNoord has completed the sale of two Embraer E190 aircraft to South African carrier Airlink, according to information released by the companies on January 12.
Airlink intends to recover components from the aircraft fuselages and retain the engines as spares to support its existing Embraer fleet. The airline is also assessing options regarding any potential future operation of the aircraft.
The transaction aligns with Airlink’s fleet profile, which is composed entirely of Embraer aircraft. The carrier currently operates around 70 jets, including three newly delivered E195-E2s and 28 E190s, making the E190 the most numerous type in its fleet.
From TrueNoord’s perspective, the sale forms part of its asset remarketing activities within the regional jet segment. Richard Jacobs, Chief Commercial Officer at TrueNoord, said the transaction was aimed at supporting operator requirements through tailored solutions, while Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht described the acquisition as a measure to protect the reliability and continuity of the airline’s Embraer operations.
The deal further strengthens the commercial relationship between the lessor and the African carrier, as Airlink continues to prioritize fleet commonality and parts availability amid ongoing supply chain constraints affecting the aviation sector.
