DefenseThe Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) revealed one of its first A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, still undergoing assembly at Embraer’s facilities in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil.
In a social media post, the aircraft appears with only the fuselage and stabilizer partially assembled. Service members posed next to the aircraft during a visit to Embraer.
Uruguay announced the acquisition of six A-29s last year, in two batches: the first with just one aircraft in August and the second with the remaining units in January 2025.

In the Air Force, the Super Tucanos will replace the aging Cessna A-37 Dragonfly and IA-58 Pucará starting this semester.
Embraer has closed several deals for the advanced training and close air support aircraft in 2024 after a long hiatus.
Among the new A-29 customers are Paraguay, which received four of its turboprops weeks ago, Uruguay with six aircraft, an undisclosed African country, which also placed an order for six units, and Portugal.
The European country will become the first operator of the A-29N, a variant that meets NATO requirements. One of these Super Tucanos flew for the first time a few days ago and was unveiled by Embraer during the delivery of the third KC-390 Millennium freighter to the Portuguese Air Force.
