Vietjet has finalized an order for 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft, according to a joint statement released on Thursday. The deal follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June and was announced following the conclusion of negotiations between the airline and Airbus.

This agreement brings Vietjet’s total A321neo orders to 280 as the carrier continues its fleet renewal and network expansion. The order is part of a broader strategy to increase capacity and efficiency across its route structure.

“The A321neo’s proven efficiency and flexibility make it the ideal platform to support Vietjet’s ambitious expansion,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business. “Combined with the A330neo, this fleet will deliver the best economics and seamless commonality across operations, hallmarks of the Airbus product family.”

Vietjet’s latest commitment follows a series of large-scale orders for narrowbody aircraft in recent years, positioning the airline as one of the leading customers for the A321neo worldwide. The company has consistently pursued fleet modernization as competition intensifies in Southeast Asia.

While the official value of the 100-aircraft deal was not disclosed, an internal Vietjet document cited a total price of $25 billion. In parallel, Vietjet has placed a separate order for 40 Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, valued at approximately $3.8 billion, to support its ongoing widebody fleet expansion.

Recently, the Vietnamese carrier received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 in a ceremony held in Seattle, United States, on September 21. Vietjet has a order for 200 aircraft signed years ago.
