Air TransportVietjet has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the initial aircraft from a $32 billion order for 200 aircraft signed in 2023. The aircraft arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and is the first of 50 737s scheduled for delivery to the Thai subsidiary through 2028.
The new aircraft, registered as HS-VZA, will begin service on the Bangkok–Chiang Mai route and is scheduled to enter international operation on the Bangkok–Cam Ranh sector in December. Vietjet Thailand aims to leverage the 737-8 to support growing travel demand and expand to key destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.

“This addition strengthens the operational capability of the airline, supporting the growing demand for travel and enabling further expansion to key destinations in the Asia-Pacific region,” the company said.
The delivery ceremony took place in September, attended by Vietnam’s president Luong Cuong and senior officials from both the United States and Vietnam.
The VietJet group previously operated a fleet of 114 Airbus jets in addition to five Dash 8 turboprops. The airline has also increased its orders for the A320neo family and closed a deal for the A330neo.
Recently, VietJet reportedly renewed a wet lease agreement with Chengdu Airlines to operate two COMAC C909s.
