Vietjet will resume flights using COMAC C909 aircraft from November 25, following a month-long suspension of the service, according to Reuters sources.

The airline has signed a new wet lease agreement with Chengdu Airlines, covering two 90-seat C909s for four daily flights.

The renewed contract includes provision of aircraft, pilots, maintenance, and operational support. Vietjet is evaluating additional leasing options for COMAC models, though these remain subject to regulatory approvals.

Vietjet had previously suspended Con Dao flights after a six-month wet lease contract with Chengdu Airlines ended, citing high costs and regulatory hurdles. The resumption follows recent regulatory clearance for the C909 in Vietnam.

The COMAC C909, in commercial service since 2016, operates in markets including China, Indonesia, and Laos. Airlines in Cambodia and Brunei have also placed orders for the type.

Vietnamese authorities approved C909 operations earlier this year after the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Hanoi in April.

The C919, the state-owned manufacturer's most advanced single-aisle aircraft, is also looking to expand its international presence. Two units were presented at the Dubai Airshow for the first time, as part of COMAC's effort to close new deals.
