Air TransportVietnam Airlines has launched a process to receive indicative offers for up to 30 widebody aircraft, considering both the Airbus A350-900 and the Boeing 787-9.
The company is seeking proposals from manufacturers, lessors, and brokers, with aircraft deliveries planned between 2028 and 2032.
According to the airline, it will consider various acquisition structures, including direct purchase, operating lease, finance lease, or sub-lease.
Interested parties are required to submit details such as the number of aircraft offered, type, proposed passenger layout (LOPA), delivery schedule, and indicative commercial terms like purchase price or lease rate by October 8.
The A350-900 and 787-9 are widebody aircraft that compete in the long-haul segment, but offer different passenger capacity and range.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates a fleet of 14 Airbus A350s, 11 Boeing 787-9s, and six 787-10s. The state-owned carrier is also evaluating additional orders for regional aircraft, specifically the Airbus A220 or Embraer E2, as part of its fleet renewal and expansion strategy.
