Wizz Air announced on November 7 an agreement with Airbus to defer delivery of 88 aircraft until its fiscal year 2033.

The Hungarian-based carrier stated the decision aligns its delivery schedule with a more sustainable and profitable capacity growth trajectory. The move comes after financial challenges and engine issues affected recent results.

The total number of aircraft in Wizz Air’s Airbus order remains at 273. The company reduced its A321XLR commitment from 47 to 11, with five units already delivered.

Wizz Air converted 36 A321XLR orders to A321neo, with a smaller range. The airline targets capacity growth of 10–12% annually through 2030.

By 2029, Wizz Air expects its fleet to consist exclusively of neo-generation aircraft. The current fleet includes 249 Airbus A320 and A321 jets.

In September, the carrier suspend operations of its subsidiary, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. The decision was made due to “operational challenges,” including geopolitical issues, such as the Israeli-Iran conflict, as well as reliability issues with Pratt & Whitney engines.
