Air TransportThe delivery of Mexicana de Aviación’s first E195-E2 took place on Monday, as ADN anticipated and was confirmed by Embraer later in the day.
Shortly after 9:20 a.m., an aircraft bearing Mexican registration XA-MXA took off from São José dos Campos Airport— home to Embraer’s headquarters —although its details initially did not appear on FlightRadar24.
Later, the tracking website updated the data and showed that the aircraft was an E190-E2, but Embraer confirmed that it was an E195-E2.

As the ADS-B data showed, the jet was flying at 430 knots (around 800 km/h) and an altitude of 38,000 feet (11,600 meters), heading toward Mexican airspace.
The use of the XA-MXA registration—previously assigned to aircraft operated by Mexicana during its private era—reinforced the likelihood that this was the first of 20 E2 jets set to join the airline’s fleet.

The arrival of the aircraft had been expected for days. Both Mexicana de Aviación and Embraer published posts on social media hinting at the imminent delivery of the airline’s first jet.
Last week, local media revealed that the state-owned carrier had taken out insurance for the first five aircraft to be delivered by 2025.

Revived under the control of the Mexican government, the airline, which ceased operations in 2010, aims to offer a low-cost alternative for travelers—but the success of that mission depends on the deployment of Embraer’s E2 jets to build a reliable national route network.
Editor’s note: The correct registration of the aircraft is XA-MXA, not XA-XMA as previously reported. We apologize for the error.
